How Much do I bring?
A good guideline is to bring what you can carry, one large suitcase to stow under the bus and one carry on should be enough. Washing machines are available at both National 4-H and the Patrick Henry.
Mr. Reynolds and Mrs. Baker will go through all bags prior to them being loaded onto the bus. If any prohibited materials (drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, weapons etc...) are found, that student will be staying in Hayfield.
Clothing:
It is usually very nice and rather warm in early June. Wear light clothes that will breathe.
We are not doing any formal events so fancy clothes won't be necessary.
I would suggest shorts and light shirts.
Bring a couple of pairs of shoes that you will be able to put a few miles on each day. Do not buy new shoes and wear then for the first time when we step off the bus! Break them in first.
Swim suits for swimming at the Patrick Henry and Busch Gardens
Toiletries
Be sure to bring soap, shampoo and any other toiletries you may require. These items will be on sale at the lodging sites, but will be more expensive. Be sure to bring sunscreen!
Electronics
When we go into the White House and perhaps a couple of other places you will not be allowed to bring cell phones and cameras in. In these instances, we will leave them on the bus. If you attempt to take a prohibited items in, they will be confiscated and you will lose them!
Cameras - I highly recommend bring extra batteries for your camera and enough memory card space to take hundreds of pictures. If using film, be sure to bring plenty of it. All of these items will be available for sale but will cost a great deal more there.
Cell Phones - I highly recommend bringing your cell phone. It will be a very important communications device!
Camera Phones - Most cameras have built in still and video camera. In areas that do not allow photography, do not try to be sneaky and use your camera phone! It will be takeen away and you will never see it again!
DVDs - The bus is equipped with a DVD player and there are TVs throughout the cabin. Movies will be played while on longer legs of the trip. Bring movies that you may want to watch on the bus keeping in mind that all movies will be screened Mr. Reynolds and Mrs. Baker. The rooms may have DVD players in them.
Game Systems - Game systems are allowed but may not work on every television set in every room.
Medications
All prescription medications will be identified to Mr. Reynolds and Mrs. Baker and be kept in the original pharmacy container at all times.
